If your teens are anything like mine then you know that they are always hungry. These Easy and Healthy Snacks for Teens are items that I try to always have on hand so that my teens can just grab them and go!
We joke the my son is a hobbit because he eats multiple meals a day–first breakfast, second breakfast, first lunch, second lunch etc. but as a grown boy who swims competitively and runs daily he needs the extra calories to build muscle and keep up his endurance. My teen daughter, while she doesn’t eat quite as much, needs healthy snacks and meals just as much to keep her satisfied–because a hungry teen girl isn’t a good thing!
Did you know that studies show that teens need between 1500-2500 calories per day, depending on their activity level? Add in teen athletes and they need every more. It can be very easy for teens to fall into a rut and eat junk food but teens need healthy options to help them grow and thrive. Plus, when they eat a meal that is full of protein it keeps them satisfied longer.
With busy teen athletes they need lots of food to fuel them up for practice so I try and have lots of homemade, easy snacks on hand. These are some of our favorites!
