The White Haven Community Library and Visitor Center, 99 Towanda Street, White Haven, will be holding Open House festivities this Saturday, May 25th from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
The new library will be housed in the historic former Lehigh Valley railroad engine house located at 99 Towanda Street in White Haven. This century old stone building has been rehabilitated and restored back to many of its original architectural features; however, a new mezzanine level and interior walls as well as modern structural systems has created a beautiful space for public use.
Festivities include a library tour, a book sale, live music, food, a bounce house and more!
Parking will be allowed at the nearby DCNR parking lot next to G& A Hardware on Main Street.
Special Events include:
10:30– Danielle Bernstein, children’s writer and teacher will be in the library for a meet-the author and book signing session, with a talk on origins of her book “The Magic in a Mermaid’s Tear” and a sea glass jewelry sale.
11:00–Discover Lehigh Gorge Walk, a one-mile easy walk with a DCNR naturalist. This event, partnered with the Keystone Active Zones Passport Program and the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, will highlight spring wildflowers and remnants of the area’s rich history. Meet before 11:00 in the library parking lot.
1:00–Kathy Long, artist and storyteller, will be in the library to present an interactive program for children and adults on the origin of stories and on developing personal and family stories.
2:30–Suzy Kaminski, children’s writer, will be in the library for a meet-the author and book signing session on her book “Our Forever Home—Tales of the Cozy Red Barn. She will also give a preview of her forthcoming new book.
3:30—The We Three Brass Trio will perform selections from The Great American Songbook.
