Last October I turned 40 and I decided that it was time for me to take control of my health and to get back in shape and get healthy. After the holidays I started eating right and after months of hearing about a Crossfit Bootcamp called World’s Best Bootcamp offered by a local Crossfit box (that a gym for Crossfit newbies) I decided to give it a try. It was a six week program, focused on healthy eating and fitness. I LOVED it and after the six week program was over I decided to join the Crossfit Gym as a member and have been taking classes three times a week ever since.
It has been wonderful and the changes I have seen in my body, my mind, my stamina and my self esteem have been great. I love the atmosphere, I love the workouts and I love challenging myself every time.
Because of the way Crossfit is set up, each workout of the day (WOD) is challenging but fun and works different muscle groups each day–so there is very little repetition each week and new muscles are used each workout. I often wake up the day after a workout feeling stiff and sore, which is all good, it shows that I’m using those muscles and over the past few months I have learned what I need to do to minimize soreness and tight muscles. I would rather be in pain from exercising then in pain from not.
Tips to Relieve Pain From Exercise
- Drink lots of water–our bodies need water to stay healthy and that is especially important when exercising. I try and drink 8oz’s of water before my workout (I go at 6 am) and then another 16 oz of water during my workout and on the way home.
- Keep moving–when mules are sore your natural inclination is to avoid moving and stretching them but this is the wrong thing to do. By moving around and doing light stretching you are breaking up the lactic acid in your muscles which helps your muscles recover from your workout.
- Eat protein, especially after a workout–protein helps rebuild muscle fibers and can help aid in recovery after a workout.
- When I have really overdone it or stretched my muscles too much then I like to use LiveRelief pain relieving cream. LivRelief is the first over-the-counter pain-relief product

The main factor for me to start exercising regularly is the pain I have after. It needs a lot of time to do adaptation for the pain after exercise. Some great points to help me with the adaptation. Thank you for sharing at Family Fun Friday.
