As a busy mom of five it is important to me that my family eats healthy so that we can live our very best life. My kids are all competitive swimmers so they need to eat healthy to do their best in the pool and I need to eat healthy so that I feel my very best so that I can be an active and participating parent, even when life is busy.
But lets be honest, without a plan in place as to how to live a healthy lifestyle it is often something that we mom push to the back burner. I recently decided to take charge of my health, stop making excuses and I joined a Crossfit bootcamp. I really am loving it, and am loving the changes I am seeing in the two weeks I have been doing it. I am stronger, I can run faster and farther than I could before and I am really learning a lot about how to live a healthy lifestyle.
Tips for a Healthy Lifestyle
Exercise–make time to exercise each and every day. That doesn’t mean you have to go hard and exercise for hours, it can be as simple as taking a brisk walk around your block, doing a 30 minute workout that you stream online or just doing some planks and sit-ups in your living room. The point is to get moving and get your heart rate up.
Drink enough water–we all know that drinking water is important for our overall health, after all more than 60% of our bodies are water but did you know that by the time you feel thirsty you are already on your way to dehydration? How about the fact that we are supposed to drink at least 64oz of water each day? Are you drinking that much? If not, try and up your water intake. You might just find that you feel better, sleep better, your skin and nails will be in better shape. What do you have to lose right?
Plan your meals in advance–that’s right, have a meal plan. I know, how boring right? WRONG! By doing a meal plan in advance it means that you are prepared for whatever kinks in your schedule life might throw your way. Having a meal plan means that you know what you are eating when, what ingredients you need to have on hand each day. If that feels too restrictive to you then just do a loose plan, where you know what you are eating for breakfast, lunch and dinner but don’t assign a specific meal for each day.
