This is the 2nd in a series of guests posts about fitness by local mom Judy Zavislak. Thanks Judy!
When I start a new exercise program after having a little “break” (like around the holidays…can anyone relate?), I have no momentum. I often compare it to a train starting up. At first, it’s pulling and struggling just to get moving a fraction of an inch! If there was a pebble on the tracks, that small stone would be enough to stop it.
But then things start to get easier. As the wheels turn, they start to gather momentum and they turn with ease. After a while, the train has SO much momentum, that it’s UNSTOPPABLE!
I started a new exercise program the beginning of January. The first few weeks were ROUGH! I was sore. I was tired. I was grumpy.
But now? After about three weeks of consistent effort, things are rolling along! I’m not as sore, and I’m actually feeling very energetic! And…best of all…I’m starting to see RESULTS! There is nothing more motivating than results!
I work out in front of a mirror, mostly so that I could check my form. As I was doing my Combat workout this morning, I noticed some muscles in my shoulders and upper back! I had to stop and take a picture! 😉
Did you make a New Year’s Resolution to lose weight? Stick with that commitment you made to get healthier in 2013! If it were easy, everyone would be at their perfect weight! If you just stick with it long enough to start seeing results, I PROMISE you that it will be easier soon! Look for ANY results…not just on the scale because the scale is NOT the best gauge for what’s going on. Are you starting to have more energy? Are your clothes fitting better? Are you starting to actually LIKE your workouts? ALL great signs that things are happening!
Before you know it, you’ll be like that train that has built up momentum…UNSTOPPABLE!
