My family and I recently got the opportunity to take in a RailRiders baseball game at the new PNC Field, home of the Scranton/Wilkes Barre RailRiders and had a GREAT time! The new stadium is truly a family friendly destination in NEPA. The night we went was Princess night so everywhere you looked little girls (and some big girls!) were dressed up in their princess finery, and festivities included a princess parade.
Our seats were great, right behind home plate, but we spent the majority of time walking around the concourse taking in the views of the stadium from every angle. There really isn’t a bad seat in the house. My son loved being able to stand at the back of the field and look over the railing and watch the pitches warm up in the bullpen and all of my kids loved rolling down the grassy hill in the Home Fun Zone. Also located at the back of the field is the Fun Zone, which for a small fee your child can jump and play to their hearts content on numerous inflatable slides and play games.
Here is a little known fact as well: Three laps around the stadium equals one mile so on your way into the park stop at Guest Services and pick up a pedometer. Do three laps around and then turn it back in for a Subway gift card, which ranges in value from $1-$5. My girls and I did this and we all got a $1 Subway card and had a great time doing it.
There are always lots of great family friendly promotions going on at the stadium as well. In addition to their special promotions, every Monday is $1 Hot Dog Night, Wednesdays are Kids Eat Free Night, Thursday is Thirsty Thursday, Friday night there are fireworks and Sundays are Family FUNday. There really is something for everyone!
You don’t need to be a fan of the New York Yankees or even a baseball fan to have a great time with the RailRiders at PNC Field.
All in all a night at the Railriders is a fun and relaxing way to spend the evening with the family. Tickets are on sale at the Box Office or by clicking here.
