Recently I was invited to visit and tour the Philadelphia Magazine Design Home 2014 and participate in an event hosted by Real Mom Media and Xfinity from Comcast. The event was set up to showcase both the house AND all the cool offerings that Xfinity offers busy families like mine.
First off, the house was A-MAZ-ING!
This home was custom designed as a part of the annual Design Home tour by Philadelphia Magazine and tours were available with ticket proceeds going to MANNA, a Philadelphia area charity that prepares and delivers free, nourishing meals to neighbors battling serious illnesses such as cancer, HIV/AIDS, diabetes and kidney disease.
The real reason for us being there however was to showcase the new Xfintity X1 Platform….and boy was I impressed!
Did you know that Comcast offers a home security system? Xfintity Home can offer moms and dads true peace of mind.
This program offers remote video monitoring inside and outside of your home–and you can see what is happening even when you are away. You can view cameras in your home, control your lighting and heating system, monitor your windows and doors with sensors and more. do you kids come home to an empty house? With Xfinity Home you can set it up to get text alerts when the door opens–and you can check to make sure that they come home alone and on time.
Another great feature of the Xfinity X1 platform is the sheer amount of movies and television programs you can watch and record at one time. I love that with parental controls you can control what your kids are watching and that every program has a rating thanks to their partnership with Common Sense Media.
And did you know that if you are a subscriber you can then watch saved programs on your digital devices even when away from home? I can’t tell you how much I wish I had that feature when I am sitting at the pool during swim team practice with my very bored two year old.
Finally, my absolte favorite thing….theXfinity TV remote app! Do you have any idea how often we lose our remote? The two year old hides it and then we have to rip apart the house to find the remote so we can change the channel. Well no more! With the app we can use our smartphones and control the TV from any room in the house! How awesome is that?
I was provided a tour of the Philadelphia Design Home and the Comcast features of the home. I received a Samsung Tab4 from Comcast in exchange to facilitate my review of Xfinity on the blog.
All opinions expressed in this post are my own. I received a free tour of the Design Home and a new Samsung Galaxy Tab 4.
