This week in the Northeast we are all bracing for the bitter cold and the next BIG storm! Today, all area schools were cancelled and we weren’t heading anywhere and despite the cold my kids were begging to head out and play in the snow…but that didn’t last long! It was so cold they only made it about 20 minutes before they headed back inside.
I needed something quick to keep everyone happy so when I suggested that we pull out all the blankets and the pillows from the couch to make an indoor fort, I was met with cheers of joy!
We set out to work on our fort, with everyone having an idea of what to do and how to keep the blankets on and we settled on setting it up under our school table in our living room. We pulled out the side benches, put blankets on top and placed all the pillows into our fort and voila…everyone got inside and snuggled and watched videos on their iPods and read books. I even earned extra bonus points when I brought out the Pop Secret popcorn for a special snack inside the fort. (Click here for a $1 off coupon for Pop Secret)
It was a great way to spend the afternoon!
During the next couple days of cold and snowy weather why don’t you create your own pillow forts and submit the photos to the Pop Secret Facebook page using the hashtag #PopSecretForts for a chance to receive fun surprises and rewards from Pop Secret!
While you are there you can download a $1 off coupon for Pop Secret popcorn to give you a frugal and fun family day!
This post is sponsored by Pop Secret, but as always, my opinions as well as my love of popcorn are 100% my own.

I don’t know how much longer I can deal with this cold weather!! But if I had adorable little ones like yours to build a fort for, that would make it better!!

I always loved building pillow forts as a kid so when my boys were younger, we built them together, too!
