I hope you enjoy this guest post from Christina at It’s a Keeper! I will have to add this recipe to my repertoire, I know my son would love it!
During the week, my slow cooker is huge help in getting dinner on the table fast! My recipe for Slow Cooker Beer Braised Short Ribs comes together in a snap and get devoured every time I make it!
Hi! Iím Christina, the chief cook and bottle washer at Itís a Keeper. I’ve guest posted here at NEPA Mom a few times before. For those of you that don’t know me, Iím a northeastern Pennsylvania food blogger and a self-proclaimed recipe hoarder who reads cook books cover to cover like most people read a juicy novel. Iím also a wife and busy mom.
I love my slow cooker! It’s one of the most used appliances in my kitchen. It’s what helps me get dinner on the table without much fuss.
One of the most popular recipes on my website, are these Beer-Braised Short Ribs. And, my 7 year-old has declared this recipe his ìfavorite dinner of all time”.
Itís no wonder why. These Beer Braised Short Ribs are obscenely delicious, incredibly easy to make and itís virtually impossible to them mess up.
You may think you can get away with substituting spare ribs in this recipe, but donít be tempted. Short ribs are tougher and meatier than spare ribs. And, as the name implies, theyíre shorter too. But the best part is, they require very little hands-on time and theyíre fairly inexpensive.
When I make this recipe (and I make it often), I combine all of the sauce ingredients, minus the beer, the night before. Then, in the morning, all I have to do is place the ribs and onions in the slow cooker and pour the sauce mixture and beer over the top. Could it get any easier?
These ribs are fall-off-the-bone tender and the sauce is thick and rich and velvety. It’s easy to see why thousands of my readers have downloaded this recipe already.
