When I was growing up my family always had a dog and he was always treated as part of our family. As I got older, moved out, got married, I had no desire to get a pet and have to deal with all the upkeep a dog entails. I always swore that it wasn’t worth having a dog and kept saying we would never adopt a dog…well those were famous last words!
One day I realized my daughter, who was three, was afraid of dogs and my husband and I decided the time had come for us to get a dog. What a great decision that was for our family as our beloved Labrador Retriever named Yankee came to live with us. He has enriched our lives in so many ways and is a faithful companion and protector of my five kids.
Earlier this week the kids and I headed to Sam’s Club to pick up some special treats, including Pedigree dog food and rawhide bones so that we could celebrate Yankee’s birthday with special treats and extra love.
Let’s be honest, though, every day is a good day for Yankee. However, because we are committed to his well-being and health that means we strive to be responsible dog owners. Unfortunately, not every dog has an owner that loves him and takes care of him – that’s why Pedigree has teamed up with Sam’s Club and pledged to donate one bowl of dog food to a dog in need for every Pedigree brand bag of dog food or treats purchased at Sam’s Club (in October).
Isn’t that awesome? Now you can take care of both your own furry friend and ensure that others are taken care of as well!
