Sea Salt and Caramel Chip Cookies–such a yummy, sweet treat!

12/19/16 | Dessert Recipes, Recipes, Uncategorized

This is a sponsored post on behalf of New Metro Design but all opinions are 100% my own.

Over the weekend we decided to make cookies and we used our traditional Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe but substituted Sea Salt and Caramel Chips for the chocolate chips and we needed up with a really yummy treat!  The sea salt and caramel chips added a depth of flavor that was both sweet and salty and oh so good!  Try making these Sea Salt and Caramel Chip Cookies for the holidays–everyone is sure to love them!

Sea Salt and Caramel Chip Cookies

With some family birthdays in the past few weeks and the holidays quickly approaching my kids and I have been spending a lot of time in the kitchen baking.  I love to spend time in the kitchen with my kids, it is such a great way to connect with them .  I always tell them stories about how I baked with my great grandmother when I was a kid and I love passing down the traditions and memories and recipes too.  My one daughter loves baking so much that she wants to be a pastry chef when she is older–now she is only 9 so her plans may change but I like to think that the memories we are creating now are what are prompting her to want to do that with her life but either way, I’m just thrilled she wants to spend time with me in the kitchen.

Baking is fun when you include the kids!

Sea Salt and Caramel Chip Cookies

Ingredients
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 sticks butter softened
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 package Hershey’s sea salt and caramel chips
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Combine flour, baking soda and salt. Beat butter, sugar, brown sugar and butter in your stand mixer until creamy. Add eggs and beat well. Beat in flour mixture until well mixed. Stir in  chips and drop by spoonfuls on ungreased baking sheets.
  3. Bake for 9-11 minutes until just lightly brown. Cool on wire rack.

When baking espically with kids, it is important to have the right tools to get the job done. I love using my Kitchenmaid mixer and I recently was given the opportunity to try out two new products that make using the mixer even easier.

Beater Blade The Beater Blade continuously beats, scrapes, folds and mixes ingredients  virtually eliminates hand-scraping and batter build-up on the blade.  It saves some much time!

Universal Pouring Chute

I also had the chance to check out the Pouring Chute, which makes baking with kids so much easier because it allows them to add ingredients to the mixing bowl without spilling .Simply attach the chute to the bowl and lock it into position so it doesn’t interfere with the mixing process and is ideal for both dry and wet ingredients.

What do you plan on baking this week with your kids? Leave a comment and let me know!
