The weather has finally turned nice in my neck of the woods. After the cold spring we were having it is great to finally be able to get outside and PLAY! My kids have been so sick of being cooped up in the house and when we were outside for things like baseball games we were dressed like it was the fall.
Now that the weather has turned the corner however, we have been taking advantage of the great weather and have been spending lots of time outdoors riding bikes, playing on the slides and even taking our schoolwork out to the picnic table to finish up our lessons. Being outside so much however, makes us thirsty and I am always looking for ways to add to the fun of being outside.
My kids have been asking me for months when it was going to be warm enough to bring out the popsicle maker and I decided this weekend that it was finally time!
I decided to make SunnyD pops for the kids as a special treat and I also put together a fun Spring Scavenger Hunt to do as part of our science lesson–if you know me then you know I am always trying to sneak in learning!
Here is our Scavenger Hunt that we did, my kids really had a great time running around looking for all the objects on the hunt. It was a great way to pass some time while the pops were being prepared and I plan on sticking a few copies of the Scavenger Hunt in my purse to pull out at our next baseball game.

My kids really loved working together to find all the items on the Scavenger Hunt.
For the pops, it really can not get any easier. For my pops I used the Zoku Quick Pop Maker which makes pops in just minutes but you can really use any traditional pop maker–including old fashioned ice cube trays! Then just fill the molds with SunnyD and let them freeze. You could also add some chunks of fruit to the SunnyD if you want fruit pops as well. Once they are frozen you get to have fun!
Being a larger family, every two weeks I head to Sam’s Club to stock up on essentials like frozen foods, fruits and the occasional special treat. I had recently picked up SunnyD from the refrigerator section of the store so I already had it in the refrigerator ready to go. It was on rollback with a great new price of $5.38 for a 24ct pack and it was on the end cap of the refrigerated section of the store. It was so easy to find how could I not add to the spring time fun and bring it home to the kids?
Doesn’t just seeing the SunnyD make you go back to warm spring days of your childhood, running around all day, getting sweaty and dirty, not having a care in the world but having a great time with your friends?

Scavenger hunts are fun. We used to do them in the woods behind our house, but a tree snapped back there recently with my son there when it did, so I’m apprehensive to go back there again. We might do one on the nature trail or in the park though this summer. Both of my kids like them.

You know, I have never given my son a scavenger hunt and I think he would have a blast with this one. I think I’ll print it out and see if he wants to play along. However, I KNOW he will love those SunnyD pops – yum! #client
This is cool. I would kinda be scared to find a Bee .. but all the others things are fun. Grasshoppers were my favorite things to “try” to catch. They were so fast
