When my daughter decided to have a Pizza Party Birthday party for her friends the first thing I did was make a reservation at our favorite Pizza joint, Mendicino’s Pizza. I then set out to plan the perfect Pizza Party! Since we were having it at a pizza place I wanted to have some great decorations and do a craft, all without making a mess in the pizza place.
I picked up some red checked tablecloths, red plates and green napkins for the table because nothing says pizza party than red and green decorations. For the cake I made my family favorite Chocolate Cake in round cake pans but rather than making the cake a double layer I iced it as two separate layers with white buttercream icing. I then dyed some of the white icing with red food coloring to look like sauce, covered the cake with white nonpareils to look like cheese, cut black and green jelly beans to look olives and peppers and used fruit roll ups cut into circles to look like pepperoni. I then placed both of the cakes on a silver colored baking sheet and voila, it was a pizza cake!
For treat bags I printed out a clip art picture of a pizza, glued it on to a white bag adorned with green and red ribbon and stuff the bag with lots of goodies like candy, green and red aprons, pencils and other fun treats.
For the craft I got a foam craft sheets in brown, white, green black and red. I cut the brown and white foam sheets to look like slices of pizza, the green sheets to look like peppers and the red and black ones to look like olives and pepperoni. I then put a magnetic strip on the back so each girl could assemble their pizza and then take it home to display on the fridge.
My daughter and her friends had a great time making their own “pizzas” and then taking them home. Everyone went home full of yummy pizza, cake and with cute crafts to remember the day!
