If you ask my kids what their favorite day trip destination or overnight stay is and there is not a doubt in my mind that they would answer Hershey. As many of you know, my family lived in Hershey PA for many years when my kids were younger so we love to go back as often as possible. Whenever we mention that we are going to be visiting Hershey the kids get really excited, so you can imagine the excitement when I told them that we were going to a sneak preview of the new Hershey Waterworks at the Hershey Lodge.
The new Hershey Water Works complex includes two indoor pools, a fitness center, arcade, Cocoa Cabana dining location with full bar and wait service, activity room, whirlpool and bathrooms.
When we first arrived at the preview we had to wait to get into the pool so my kids immediately headed to the game room.
The game room features games for everyone, including claw machines, motorcycle rides for little kids, basketball games and more, plus they offer a separate game room featuring LEGO’s and board games.
Once inside the pool area the water features include two pools, Twizzlers Twists Slides (which are 220 feet of awesome fun!), Reese’s Water Walk, a water play structure perfect for little kids and an outdoor splash pad.
My older four kids had so much fun riding the Twizzler Twist Slides, which go 24 feet in the air and send you sliding outside of the building–so fun!
The whole slide is over 200 feet long !
Doesn’t that look like fun? My kids spent half the night riding this slide! They took turns trying to race each other to see who could get to the bottom faster.
They also loved the Reese’s Water Walk which is harder than it looks!
Every time they thought they were going to make it across those pads they are walking on would slide away!
My youngest, who is not a confident swimmer yet, really enjoyed playing in the water play areas as opposed to the pool. She loved that she could get wet and have fun without worry–I loved that too!
After all of that water fun we were all starving so we were thrilled to check out all the yummy food options at the Cocoa Cabana dining location with full bar and wait service–and milkshakes. Trust me, try the milkshakes!
One of the things I love about Hershey is the attention to detail and the fact that they really strive to make your visit as pleasant as possible. At the Hershey Water Works that means that they supply towels for you–really soft towels!– and life jackets so you don’t need to worry about bringing any of that with you.
Hershey Waterworks is is only available for guests that are staying on property, so yet another reason to book a trip to the Hershey Lodge soon! I know we can’t wait to go back soon.

This is so cool! My kids specifically look for hotels with great pools and this just tipped the favor towards Hershey Lodge for sure. We’re going to have to check it out before we move to NC!
