Last year I lost 35 pounds eating healthy and exercising daily but during the holidays and the winter I wasn’t really being very careful about what I was eating and I can really feel the difference. Not only are my pants feeling a bit tighter but I feel sluggish and more tired. To counteract that feeling, I have started exercising daily again and I’m also trying to incorporate more salads into my day, but I find that if I don’t add some protein I am starving in the afternoons. Then I end up binging on carbs, which makes me feel tired and with 5 busy kids in multiple activities, I need enough fuel to get me through my evening rush, dinnertime and beyond!
To fuel up and feel great, I have started adding Alpine Lace Reduced Fat Swiss Cheese and some low sodium ham to my salads at lunchtime. Not only do they taste great but having the cheese in the salad provides a good source of protein and calcium. Alpine Lace Reduced Fat Swiss Cheese is available in prepackaged slices, or at the deli counter where they can freshly slice it for you and most varieties of Alpine Lace® Deli Cheese are reduced fat, perfect for balanced snack on the go or adding delicious flavor to your favorite sandwich or salad.
Making it even better? My kids love it too so I don’t have to make multiple lunches for both me and the kids. For the kids who love salads I just make smaller portions for them and for my two that aren’t fans of lettuce I just do ham and cheese rollups and add some tomatoes for a fun, finger foods meal.
With Spring here and shorts and bathing suit season fast approaching, I am trying to be more aware of the choices I am making towards food both for the benefit of losing some weight but also so that I feel more energetic and ready to take on my Life Adventures throughout the day. I love that salad, looks so delicious! I’ve been making my own salad dressing lately and would love to pour my Lemon Garlic dressing on that. 🙂
