Well another weekend is coming to a close so I am working on my family meal plan for the week once again. I like to do it on Sundays because I can plan out my meals for the week based on the sales that are happening at my local markets. I also take the time to check out my freezer to see if there is anything in there that I need to use up soon.
This week is a pretty easy week for us, we only have swim practice twice this week so that means we are out of the house only two nights, instead of the typical five.
I have to say that plannings meals in advance really has simplified my life recently and while we haven’t always been 100% on the plan, it has made life less stressful and has saved me money because I am using what I have and don’t have to make multiple last minutes trips to the grocery or even worse, hit the drive through because I forgot to defrost something or don’t have any idea what to cook.
So without further ado, here is the Family Meal Plan for the week:
Sunday: Today we are having Chicken Marsala in Butter Sauce…weird name I know but it is a recipe that I have kinda adapted from two other recipes and my whole family loves it. It basically is chicken with Marsala wine, mushrooms and lots of butter. I serve it over noodles or it is also great over rice. I also try to make extra because it is even better after it sits in the juice so I will hopefully be eating this for lunch a few times this week.
Monday: This is a swim team practice night so we will be at the pool during dinner so the food needs to be simple and quick before we head out. All my kids love Sloppy Joe’s I will make a big pot of it during the day and we can all make Sloppy Joe sandwiches before we head out.
Tuesday: I’m out of the house Tuesday afternoon so I need a meal that I can get ready in the morning and then cook when I get home. I love using my grill so we are going to be firing up the grill having Chicken Kabobs on the Grill. YUM! Great way to get the kids to eat veggies too because Kabobs are so fun to eat!
Wednesday: Another swim night so we will be having Walking Tacos. My kids love tacos and to make them as Walking Tacos keeps clean up to a minimum and makes eating tacos fun!
Thursday: So last week I said I was going to make a double batch of Cheesy Chicken Bundles so that we could have some for dinner and I could put some in the freezer but I never got to make them so that is the plan for tonight.
Friday: Friday is all about the pizza, so we will get take out from our local pizza joint and our biggest decision will be whether to get round or square pizza. What shape does your family prefer?
Saturday: We will be at a birthday party so we will eat at the party.
