My husband’s birthday was this past weekend and I asked him what he wanted me to bake for him for his special day and he said my Chocolate Pie–I was not surprised. He loves my homemade Chocolate Pie and I only make it for special occasions so we don’t have it very often. Part of what makes it so yummy is that everything is homemade, from the graham cracker crust, the filling and the whipped cream on top. It’s one of those desserts that taste great, look impressive and is seriously so easy to make!
I was talking with a friend about the graham cracker crust and they were saying that they always buy them ready-made at the grocery store, which is fine, but making a homemade one is so simple and so economical there really isn’t any reason to buy one.
Homemade Graham Cracker Crust
- 1½ cup crushed graham crackers
- 6 tbsp melted butter
- ⅓ cup sugar
- a dash of cinnamon
- Melt butter in small sauce pan. Add crushed graham crackers, sugar and cinnamon and mix well. Press the mixture into a baking dish, using your hands or the bottom of a clean measuring cup. Bake at 350 degrees for 7 minutes. Allow to cool.
- *Note: For this recipe I only wanted crust on the bottom, not the sides so I used a larger pie plate and only did the bottom. If you wanted it like a traditional pie just use a smaller plate and press it up the sides of the plate in addition to the bottom.*
