With five kids and multiple summer activities we are often on the go during the dinner time rush. Right now we are in the middle of baseball playoffs so we spend a lot of our evenings at games, practices and other fun activities. As a result, I am always looking for great easy chicken dinners and recipes for family friendly meals that I can pull out of the freezer in a pinch that require very little preparation time.
I always want to make sure that no matter how busy we are we are eating healthy meals, which isn’t always easy when you are running from place to place–which is why it can be easy to fall into the rut of getting takeout through a window. I really try and not do that though, especially on nights where my kids have to be active. I want to make sure that they are eating a protein and a fruit or veggie at every meal so that they are properly fueled up for their activity.
I recently headed to Sam’s Club with just the baby to pick up a few items, breakfast bars, summer learning books (gotta prevent summer slide!), and of course fruit. While I was there I also checked out some great 4th of July items and then I spent some time in the freezer aisle checking out the options for dinner.
I was excited to see Tyson Fully Cooked Chicken Fries in a resealable bag. My five year old recently had chicken fries at a baseball game and she really liked them so I decided to try them out with the rest of the kids. I got home from shopping and to the dismay of my kids who wanted them right away, I threw them in the freezer for a quick dinner later in the week.
A few days later, I pulled that bag of Tyson Chicken Fries out of the freezer and started heating them up.
My kids were excited to try them out and kept asking me when they would be ready. Since they are fully cooked already they warm up in only 12-15 minutes so dinner was on the table in no time! I cut up some pineapple, put out BBQ sauce for the kids and it was a yummy, filling meal! Thank goodness too because as soon as we were finished we were out the door on our way to practice.

I bet having five kids really does keep you busy all year long. It’s nice to have an easy dinner solution on those busy summer nights. Glad they all liked it! 🙂
You know I’ve only ever tried chicken fries from a restaurant for my children. They seemed to like them quite a bit, so I’m going to have to look for these next time I’m at the market. 😀
