Summer is over and gone are the days of leisurely mornings with later breakfasts. Back to school time is here and that means that our mornings are crazy busy again and we all need a healthy and fast breakfast before we head to school and work. This year I want my kids to be more involved in the kitchen making their own nutritionally proper breakfasts. To make it as easy as possible for them to start their day off right, I stocked my kitchen with the basics to help them Build a Better Breakfast.
First up, every morning starts with an eight ounce glass of milk. Milk is naturally nutrient rich and powers potential. Milk’s 9 essential nutrients, including 8 grams of high-quality protein per 8 ounce serving, can help to ensure that kids have the potential to play, learn and grow.
Next, we are going to fuel them up with some healthy carbohydrates, like Lenders Bagels. My kids love these bagels because they come in a variety of flavors and we can change up the toppings to everyone’s preference. Some like cream cheese, some like peanut butter and jelly–it is all good!
Then add in some fruit! When I don’t have fresh fruit available, my kids love to eat Del Monte Fruit & Veggie Fusions. My kids love the flavor combinations and I love that they contain no hight fructose corn syrup, artificial colors or flavors and offer an excellent source of Vitamin C and are one combined serving of fruit and veggies!
To help my child Build A Better Breakfast each and every morning I created this handy chart to hang on the inside of the cabinet door. All they have to do is check the chart and build their breakfast to their own liking.
Childhood should be filled with playing, learning and growing. But for many children who face hunger, even basic staples like milk – and the nutrients that help power childhood activities – are missing. More than 46 million Americans – including 12 million children – rely on Feeding America food banks each year. Did you know that milk is one of the most requested, but least donated items at food banks, meaning children in need are missing out on the essential nutrients, including high-quality protein, it supplies.
Now, you can help feed a childhood – by purchasing 1 or more of these products, you are helping Feeding America provide nutrient- rich milk to kids and families in need. Visit milklife.com/give to learn more.
