Boy Scouts of America
Last year we decided to sign my son up for Cub Scouts, which is the younger version of Boys Scouts, and he loved it. With an emphasis on friendship, health and wellness and many outdoor activities it is an organization that he truly enjoys being a part of. He enjoys working towards his belt loops (cubs scouts version of badges) and gets excited when he earns a new one.
There is also a great emphasis on Healthy Living the Scout Way. I require my kids to stay active and healthy~no couch potatoes here~and scouting is a great way to do that. They often do outdoor activities, nature walks and while my son has not yet attended scout camp I have heard great stories about the boating, fishing and hiking that occurs during those camp weeks. And scouts is great for getting the families involved. It is a great activity for fathers, grandfathers and older brothers to get involved in as well. In fact in our troop last year a young scout attended each week with his grandfather and it was a great bonding activity for both of them.
Since 1910 Boy Scouts of America has been shaping young children and adults into the leaders of tomorrow through service to others, teaching self respect, ethical behavior and leadership skills that will serve them their entire life.
